A Defense of the Optimistic
I don’t consistently write reflections, but a few times a month, I find myself opening my notes app and jotting down my personal observations about the world, my work, and myself. I keep my reflections private, but every once in a while, I flip back through them and find a little nugget of inspiration.
I haven’t published anything on the “thoughts” tab of my blog before, but I figured I would give it a shot and publish one such nugget of inspiration.
In this particular reflection, I was writing about the case for optimism in the midst of a world in turmoil. While admittedly a generic thing to write about, it’s something I consider quite often. I hope you find this snippet inspirational, and that it encourages you to keep moving forward.
The case against the optimistic by the attorneys of the pessimists is litigated within the courts of the present, and the verdict becomes the precedent of history. May those with this little kernel of hope have be bathed in sunlight; may their wrongdoings and failures be washed away by their good deeds. May we all seek to foster this hope within us, and come to the defense of the optimistic. Maybe then, when the optimistic are vindicated and uplifted, we will sow the fields with seeds, so that our descendants may harvest the crop and walk among fields of flowers.
